“Currently my embedded videos are coming up as a black image, with a play button. I was wondering if there’s a way to change this.”

Solution

With the latest edition of 3D Issue Version 5 a new feature was introduced, which applies to embedded videos. When you insert a new video into the publication you will notice a new option.

When you embed a new video, you are now able to select two files.

Video This is the video file, this is the video file you select to play.

Poster This is the new feature. It allows you to select an image, which will display at the start of the video. To create a ‘poster’ select the ‘…’ and navigate to an image on your computer.

Once you have an image and video selected you can select the ‘OK’ button. You should now have the new video selected along with the image.

note The image formats supported are JPEG, PNG and GIF.
